Studying at the Maine College of Art (MECA) formerly the Portland School of Art (PSA), I was introduced to the long standing tradition of figure studies. I discovered a passion for drawing and painting the body in all of its beautiful diversity. Contrary to those who would see the body as something to be hidden or even denied, I believe that our bodies are holy just as all of creation is holy. As a new mom at the time, much of what inspired my drawings and etchings was my first born and the image of motherhood. I also felt that it was important to appreciate the vulnerability of those who posed for our art school sessions and so I also modeled for classes and other artists which had the added benefit of enabling me to really feel a pose that translated into my drawings.
